Description:
Microsoft boasts of this tablet as being the first to run on an Intel Atom x7 1.6GHz processor with a 2.4GHz burst speed. At 622 grams and 8.7 inches, the Surface 3 looks far from winning a slimming competition, but these measurements make it the thinnest and lightest Surface so far. It also now features a full-HD (1920 x 1280) display and an optional stylus pen which might be useful for students and teachers who want to use it for writing notes directly in documents, including PDFs, and save them in various file types. However, it seems that the biggest improvement this tablet brings is that it now runs a full-fledged Windows 8.1 platform, not the dreaded RT which we thought was a misstep of an operating system. Basically, this means that with its improved specs, the Surface 3 should now be able to run any x86 PC apps with suitable drivers. Microsoft also promised to provide a free update to Windows 10 for this device once the new OS is rolled out sometime this year, so that is good news.
