Description:
Just like we knew that the next Michael Bay movie was going to include burning cars and loud explosions, we were quite sure that the next Xperia Tablet was going to be... surprise, surprise, waterproof. Sure enough, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet comes with an improved water rating of IP58 (which means that it can now survive continuous submersion to five feet of fresh water for 30 minutes), and an IP55 dust protection (read: almost dust-tight). It is also noticeably skinny (6.4mm) and light (15.03 ounces), making it a full ounce lighter and a bit thinner than the iPad Air. Sony claims that this tablet's 6000mAH battery can last up to 1,420 hours in stand-by mode, 13 hours of video, and 200 hours of music, which is a big promise we hope will be true. However, its ordinary 1920 x 1200 display resolution, 2.4GHz processor and 3GB RAM tell us that Sony needs to do more than just improving its water rating (just as Apple had to think beyond simply making longer iPhones) in order to be more competitive.
